MFL Mouseketeer Roll Call

Meet MFL ImaginEAR Steve C.
March, 2008

During TheMouseForLess.com's 9th Birthday Celebration Week, we are introducing to you, our MouseForLess "team", our ImaginEARS. °o°

What is your name? Stephen William MacCall-Carter (AKA Steve C)

MFL ImaginEAR Steve C. and DS Henry.

Who does your family consist of? Wife – Kelly, 2 Kids – Megan age 7 & Henry 19 months, 1 Dog - Maggie.

What is your occupation? Full time I work for an Environmental Company cleaning up and disposing of Toxic goo… Part time I Work for an airshow company producing and running airshows all over the world (the best seats in the house)

Who is your favorite Disney Character and why? Definitely Mickey Mouse! Who else can go out on a whim and fly a plane, drive a steamboat, and create his own adventures and still come away with the girl in the end?? Even after getting her mad at him for one thing or another. (I confess I copied this answer from my original questionnaire ‘cause it was a good answer).

As an ImaginEAR, what regular feature/job do you do for MFL? - Antagonist, pointer outer of bad things, checking through pages for correct prices on strollers etc… comedic relief?? Oh and unofficial Pooh unfluffer.

How many times have you vacationed to a Disney destination? Ummm 20 ish??? Dunno exact anymore we just go.

What is your favorite Disney Resort (or off site property) and why? I can’t pick just one- Without kids probably GF in one of the towers (it’s where we Honeymooned). With Kids – Wilderness Lodge, or Beach Club Villas can’t beat the atmosphere proximity to the parks for a quick hop in.

What is your favorite Disney restaurant, in or out of the parks? Again, Just one?? Without kids either Narcoossees or California Grill. With Kids Ohana or Whispering Canyon. And don’t forget the Tambu Lounge at the Polynesian for a few Backscratchers!! Wooo Hoo!!!!

What is your favorite ride or attraction at any of the Disney parks? Carousel of Progress!! I’m a softy for old rides.

When visiting Disney theme parks, do you "park hop" or not and why? Of Course!! It’s the only way to fly!! Seriously staying at BCV it’s great to come back for a little unwind time and just be able to walk in the “back door” of Epcot to visit a new country.

What is your favorite Disney memory? My daughter driving the Wishes fireworks boat when she was little.

What is your favorite "extra cost" event/tour? I want to say the Backstage Magic Tour I was supposed to go on last Jan. but a sick kiddo and a tooth needing a root canal while on vacation put the stops on that. Bitter? No I’m not bitter…

Have you met any MFL members at a Disney park? If so, who and what did you do? A few years ago I met the infamous List Mom herself Binnie, and Carol and Jane at the Contemporary for cocktail hour. A pretty big deal for a then newbie to MFL! I really lucked out when I got invited to dinner when Jane had to go and Binnie asked me to join them in her place. It was my first time at the California Grill and during the fireworks no less. I remember it was also when MFL was starting a big push to put pictures of food on the site along with menus so many pictures were taken of each dish. You should have seen the look on my wife’s face when I got back that night and she asked if I had fun and I told her about dinner. Jealous? Heck yeah she was, especially after a dinner from Roaring Forks Café with the kids.

Besides "things Disney", what do you like to do in your free time? Hot Air Balloon, play with the kids, Geocache (GC name=AngryBeaver), vacationing in Maine, go to our family cabin in Northern PA, swim, Airshows, sing.

What would people be surprised to know about you? I dunno, I think that I’m a caring person. I have a huge sense of humor sometimes a very twisted and sick sense of humor according to those that are close to me but I always care about people in the end. Oh and I hate Elvis. I was stationed in Memphis and never visited Graceland.

What is your best MouseForLess money saving tip?

1. I don’t know if this is a money saving tip but it is a sanity saving tip. If you have small children (5 and under) plan for an afternoon break back at the resort. Go back take a nap, swim in the pool, have an early dinner/snack, unwind. Head back into the parks later on after everyone has had a chance to come back down from the sensory overload.
2. You get a free bamboo backscratcher with every Backscratcher drink from the Polynesian Tambu Lounge.
3. The stuffing from a small Pooh bear will insulate a family of birds for one winter

What area of TheMouseForLess.com do you use most frequently? Almost anything in the WDW section either to quick check an answer or to refer an answer to a posted question. Oh and Chat when I can and it doesn’t boot me out.

What is your favorite aspect of MFL? The people. This is a great place to get honest answers quickly without the attitudes you find at some groups. The moderators are pretty good at keeping an eye on “hot” topics and even the List Mom comes in sometimes and gently smacks down a revolution that starts brewing now and then. ;^) There is so much knowledge in this group that makes travel (aka monetary) decisions easier since you’re more informed in an informal way.
