From Our MouseForLess Members:

MouseForLess Interesting Facts about the resort:

The resort tax at all of the value resorts except Pop Century is 13%. Pop Century and all moderate and deluxe resorts are located in another county and you'll pay only 12.5% tax.

Since this is an older value resort, the buildings are more laid out and extended to the far back of the designated sports area. - Raven Williams

MouseForLess Room Request Tips:

Request away from the football field unless you are not one to sleep at night, too much activity there. Voices and sounds travel to the rooms that face this walk area at night. When Downtown Disney closes at 2 am and people are returning to their rooms, the noises can be disrupting. - Raven Williams

We stayed towards the back of the Hoops area, and it was very quiet there. We were at the edge of the resort, so maybe a less desirable area for some. Apparently, the resort was fully booked at the time we stayed, so the quiet wasn't due to low occupancy. Maybe we just got lucky, but I was pleasantly surprised. Besides cleanliness, quiet is the most important thing for me in a hotel room. - Susan Janke

MouseForLess Hidden Treasures:

Try finding the flag for your favorite college sports team. I found mine -- go Tar Heels! - Susan Janke

Even non-sports enthusiasts will enjoy the larger than life sports-theme décor – everything is so colorful and fun. I particularly enjoyed the giant whistles in the Hoops area. - Susan Janke

MouseForLess Tips for Romance:

For seclusion from others, try the farthest building in the back. They are usually quieter there. - Raven Williams

I wouldn't recommend this resort for romantic getaways as it is often noisy and filled to the brim with small children. - Venus Windmiller

MouseForLess Tips for Families:

The food court is a good value for families. It has a variety of choices for any picky eater. - Raven Williams

I used one piece of luggage to transport one case of bottled water and snacks. Water weighed 40lbs snacks 4 lbs. Still under 50lb limit. So glad I did this.Water is $2 bottle=$48 for case of 24.Took my own case which cost $3.99. Asked for extra ice buckets. Kept chilled bottled water in room. Huge savings. Used empty suitcase for dirty laundry!! Can take bottled water into parks. (Airline allowed 2 pieces of luggage per adult. I only needed one piece for a week-the other piece was used for water/snacks) - gail

The playground is in a mostly shady area and definitely a plus. Also, food court has soymilk, if you have any kids with a dairy allergy. They let me substitute soymilk for regular milk as part of a kids meal. - Susan Janke

MouseForLess Tips for Large Travel Groups:

Ask in advance if rooms can be blocked off so that the group will be housed together. A group may sometimes be located in the preferred buildings without the additional charge. A free upgrade is nice. - Raven Williams

MouseForLess Tips for Guests with Special needs:

Make this request for any special need when you book your reservation. Call one-week prior to make sure your request is prominently listed on your form. If you find out when you check in your special need request has not been honored, ask to talk to a supervisor at the front desk. This has happened to me a few times. Once I talk with a supervisor and point out the request was on my original form, they reassign me to a room that meets my needs. - Raven Williams

If you need to rent a fridge for medical reasons, let the front desk know! You will be able to get it free of charge (saving $10 a night). - Renee Walker

MouseForLess Tips for WDW Newbies:

Catch the early bus to get a head start on the parks. Busses generally start around 6:50 am. If the bus is not full, it will then go to music and then to movies for pick up. After 3pm, all 3 value resorts have their own buss. - Raven Williams

Use room phone to access front desk. They are very helpful. Remote broke twice. They came with a replacement within 30 min. each time. - gail

Try this resort. You might be pleasantly surprised. I know I was. We only stayed here because we arrived in Disney a day early, and needed a place before we checked into AKL. I had heard that this resort was noisy, and that everything was spread out, and you'd have to do a lot of walking to get around. We didn't feel that way at all, and we were in one of the furthest buildings. And as I said, the room we had was very quiet. I would go back in a heartbeat. . - Susan Janke

MouseForLess Tips for Budget Travelers:

The toiletries in the gift shop are overpriced. Double check your personal care items before you leave home. –Green Family

The value resorts are about the cheapest possible on Walt Disney World property. Use codes for discounts on packages and AAA for discounts for room only reservations. - Raven Williams

Both code discounts and AAA discounts on room only reservations can be booked through your The Magic For Less Travel Agent.

MouseForLess Tips for Luxury Travelers:

None of the value resorts include full-service restaurants. But if you have a car and are looking for a nice sit down meal the try a short drive to Coronado Springs Resort to dine at Maya Grill or Animal Kingdom Lodge for dinner at Boma or Jiko.

Well, luxury here may be scarce, but we had an excellent meal at one of the food stations -- it was some beef dish cooked in a wine sauce and served with egg noodles, and was prepared to our specifications while we watched and waited -- it was very good quality. The station where they cook somewhat customized dishes is located near the self-serve coolers for milk and beverages. - Susan Janke
