Courtyard by Marriott

Family name: Roberta B.

Resort: Courtyard by Marriott at Down Town Disney

Date of Stay: Several times. Last visit 9/01

Type of Resort: Off Property sort of.

Room sleeps : 4

Please Rate the Following on a scale from 1-10 (10 being the best):

Theming: 3
Room Size: 8
Amenities: 4. It was post 9-11 and the full service restaurant was closed. There was a snack bar and also internet connection in the lobby for a fee.
Quality: 7
Cleanliness: 8
Transportation: 10
Recreation: n/a

Over all rating: 8

Don't miss: Watching the sunrise from your window. Walking to DTD (less than a 10 minute stroll). Look for the giant snapping turtles in the pond that you pass. They come right over to greet you!

Room Location Suggestion: I liked being up on one of the higher floors. I think I was on the 7th this past time.

The Mouse For less Tip: I stayed for free with the Marriott gift certificates I had earned through reward programs.

Comments: Wonderful bus service. The tour buses are very comfortable. They run throughout the day on a schedule. There is no charge to use them. The only negative is that they cannot accommodate scooters. They do offer transportation for scooters but you have to make a reservation the day before and have a definite pick up time.

Family name: Anna, Bean, Brighid and Eilis in one room; Grandmom and Pop Pop in another.

Resort: Courtyard by Marriott at Down Town Disney

Date of Stay: August 21st until August 27th 2002

Type of Resort: It was a value to us.

Room sleeps : one room slept 4, the other slept 3 (king bed with fold out)

Please Rate the Following on a scale from 1-10 (10 being the best):

Theming: 5 - Not a Disney themed hotel.
Room Size: 8 - Adequate - We had two double beds in one; king and sleep sofa in the other.
Amenities: 9 - internet access; free beer, wine, soft drinks from 4 - 6 everyday (with popcorn and chips and salsa); hair dryer; ironing board; tickets for Disney in the lobby; help with PS requests
Quality: 10 - I think for the price we paid, we got a great hotel
Cleanliness: 8 - had one issue with housekeeping, but they gave me a free night :-)
Transportation: 9 - we had our own car, but I asked other folks. There was a bus to the theme parks every 30 minutes and it was easy to use.
Recreation: 7 two swimming pools, exercise room, game room, Disney Store in the lobby

Over all rating: 9

Don't miss:

Room Location Suggestion: We enjoyed a lovely view of the downtown Disney area from a higher floor (we were on the 12th)

The Mouse For less Tip: Check the hotel directly for specials. We took advantage for 4 nights of the $20.02 rate. We booked my parents at the last minute, and while I found the room on the web at $99, I got it for $69 by calling the hotel directly. Also, we took advantage a couple of nights of the free reception. It was wind down time for the kids, they got cold drinks and a light snack, then it saved us a bit on appetizers for overly hungry people at dinner.

Comments: After reading a recent review, I was worried about this hotel a little, but I was very pleased. We had one issue where housekeeping only made up half of our room (one bed was unmade, towels weren't left - like someone got interrupted doing it and forgot to come back). They gave us a gift certificate for a free night - which we'll use for a return trip. The manager's reception was very nice. My parents are drinkers, and were disappointed in the mixed drinks - especially at $7 a pop. The Disney Store had some pretty good deals - my daughter bought a t-shirt with Tinker Bell on it for only $9. It was a really pleasant stay.
