Food: 3
Service: : 5 (We had a seat at the bar and were there for quite a while and
had the opportunity to make friends with the bartenders before it got
crazy, so we never had to worry about getting their attention. However, for
many others it was sometimes like they were invisible! So I give them a 5
for our service, but if I'd been some of the others, I'd probably give them
a 3...but it WAS CROWDED!!!)
Atmosphere: 5 for a sports bar, but not Disney (if you're looking for a
rambunctious sporting event crowd! If you want a quiet meal, this is not
the place to go!)
Okay for Children: Yes, if you're there on the early side and there are no
major sporting events going on.
Okay for Couples: Yes, but not for the romantic meal, unless you consider
sports romantic!!
Be Sure to Try: The food was good...for a sports bar! I really liked the
Reuben and Jen liked the chili cheese dog, but she prefers the chili cheese
dog she gets at Everything Pop (food court at Pop Century).
General tips: We went there to watch the Yankees (they lost grrrr) play the
Red Sox and there was also hockey play-offs (Detroit Red Wings lost) and I
think a basketball play-off game. This place was LOUD! It was
packed...three or four deep at the bar, and fortunately we got there early
enough to have a seat at the bar...and it was filled with Boston and
Detroit fans...What a great time we had though!!! Met some fantastic people
and even though the Yankees lost to Boston ick it was one of the most
enjoyable nights out we've had at WDW in a while. (We don't usually go
"out" though, when we're there!)
TheMouseForLess tips: They take DDE and it's 20% off all food and drinks,
including alcohol!! Made a very expensive night bearable. (I didn't put our
WHOLE bill in the above breakdown :) )
Extra Comments: We were staying at Pop Century and was concerned about how
we were going to get there...took the bus to MGM Studios, and a boat from
there to the Boardwalk but got off at the first stop for the Swan and just
walked to ESPN Club. It was about a 10 minute walk and I believe the whole
trip took about 40 minutes. We took a cab from the Boardwalk back to Pop
Century, which cost $12.
Who: Dunn Family (Jason - 32, Leslie Ann - 37, Charles - 4 and Maddie - 2)
Where: ESPN on the Boardwalk
When: last Tuesday (3/7/06)
What: Dinner. App: Nachos, Entrees: Caesar Salad, Roast Beef Sand, kids
had Chicken fingers and Mac and Cheese
Approximate Price of Entrees: $40.00
Rate the following (1-5, five being the best!)
Food: 3
Service: 3
Atmosphere: 3 (probably a 5 if there are serious sports fans in the group)
Okay for Children: Yes, because it is VERY LOUD
Okay for Couples: Yes for a "night out" but there is nothing romantic about
this place unless both are big sports fans
Be Sure to Try: nothing really recommended - food was very very average
General tips: This was the only place on the Boardwalk where we could walk
right in and be seated without ressies. We were seated right in front of a
live (televised) sports show, which was interesting. The restaurant was
very loud and had many TVs which served to dazzle the little ones, but there
wasn't much disney "magic" to it. Not recommended for the $$ unless you
have a serious sports fan.
