Food: 4

Atmosphere: 5
Okay for Children: YES!!
Okay for Couples: YES!!
Be Sure to Try: the chicken & beans were really good! And
there's nothing like fresh watermellon in the summer!
General tips: Make sure to get there early and secure a seat at
a table near the dancefloor. That way, you will be the closest to
the characters when they arrive (if you want to dance or get
autographs with them)
Dollarless tips: This is an all-you-can-eat buffet, and the
price includes unlimited drinks, including beer & wine, as well as
tax and gratuity. While $38 for an adult/$25 for a child may seem
like a lot, when you take out tax/gratuity, it's about $30/$20 per
person (or $28/$18 if you take out the cost of a drink). Considering
that, for adults, it includes unlimited alcohol as well as drinks,
and it's not a bad deal (if still a little pricey)... especially when
throwing in the atmosphere: the characters, the band, the various
little acts.
Extra Comments: The all-you-can-eat buffet includes: BBQ pork ribs,
baked chicken, hot dogs with all the fixin's,
corn-on-the-cob, baked beans, coleslaw, pasta salad, corn bread,
watermelon, marble cake, Unlimited draft beer, wine, lemonade, and
iced tea.
This was a lot of fun, though very crowded. Food was plentiful,
however, and the CMs were constantly refilling everything, so you
never had to worry about not getting something to eat. The
characters didn't do much dancing with everyone, mainly because they
were literally swamped by eager children wanting autographs every
time they came out. The characters would come out for a half-hour
and then leave for another half-hour before returning again, so if
you miss them the first time, they'll return again. The whole thing
lasts for about three hours, if you stay from start to finish.
The atmosphere was great, and the band really got everyone into the
swing of things. Plenty of singing and dancing, and they got people
onto the dancefloor and taught them dances, too. There were
different rodeo-style acts throughout the evening, such as a guy
doing stunts with a whip. They also honor people with birthdays and
anniversaries by having a special song just for them, and getting
people up on stage. Great way to celebrate a special occasion! Even
though John and I were not yet married (we went 3 days before our
wedding), we got a special dance all the same. :)
The Backyard BBQ is only held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and only
offered seasonally.
