Just Thought I'd let you all know about our day trip yesterday... We were going to MGM, mainly to get the passholder lanyard (anything for
free stuff...) First up was ToT, I asked for the seat belt seat for the first time, and it made my favorite ride even better! I think
that will be a must-do from now on. RnRC was not running, they were handing out fast passes to people who came to ride. I got three,
thinking Steve (dh) could ride twice, but Vince (my son, 6) said "I really want to ride this." Now, I had been thinking that the height
requirement was 54" like most of the roller coasters at IOA, but it was 48" and he barely made it (I asked a CM for sure, and he called
over an "official") Then it was on to Millionnaire for their first show.
The first girl on was doing pretty well but she missed the 4000 question without using any lifelines, and when the list came up, I
was #1! So down I went, played the game, guess what! I won! It was pretty exciting. Streamers came down from the
ceiling, they brought out the leather jacket that the winners get, etc. So here's the scoop on being the million point winner, if
anyone wants to know. You get the pins up to 500000, then the million one is a huge medallion (gold-plated, they said). I don't
know what I'll do with it-- probably put it on ebay some time. The jacket is really neat-- it's got the millionnaire logo embroidered on
the back and the front says "I'm a million point winner" I also got a nice polo shirt, which I'll let my husband have. The trip to New
York is 2 nights in a hotel, airfare, and $50/day/person ($200). I don't know if we'll go, since we have this son who I have promised we
will never both leave him again. We could pay to take him along, but I don't think kids under 12 are allowed on the set of millionnaire,
and I think the taping would last a long time. (all morning or all afternoon). Anyway, they said they would call me about that, since
Millionnaire has stopped taping for a while.
We ate at Hollywood and Vine and it was better than I remembered it. We went in at about 11:10, and they still had breakfast food up
for about 15 minutes, so we sort of got a brunch. The characters were great-- they spent more time with us than ever before, and paid
us all attention, not just Vince. Eventually, after about 2 p.m., RNRC finally came up. We used our fast passes and had our first
family ride on it! Vince loved it! That's always a big moment, the first family ride. We caught the 4:05 Hunchback show (which I had
never seen before), and by the time it got out, we had missed the parade, so we'll have to go back and do that another time. The
crowds were not bad all day, but when we got to MK, that was another story! It was packed, with very long wait times posted for
everything. The main reason we had gone over was to let Vince see spectromagic, which he had never seen, and to meet Roberta. We rode
TTA & the Steamboat, then found her right where she said she would be. It was great getting to meet her and the time before the
parade went really fast since we were visiting. The parade was great, except that Chernabog didn't unfold in front of us, and that
was the part I really wanted Vince to get to see. I think it had to be unfolded around the curve, or something.
Anyway, we watched the fireworks from next to Dumbo-- there were a couple that exploded really low, and we heard fire trucks
later...hmmm... We decided to try Big Thunder afterward, since I had always heard it was better at night. The posted wait was 25 min.,
but it was a walk-on so we did it twice! That ended our big day, we got home about 11:15.
