On Friday, my parent's, my daughter (5) & I traveled to WDW from Sarasota, Fl. It's about a 2 hour drive from Sarasota. First stop: Downtown
Disney-shopping at World of Disney & Disney at Home. I used the 10% off coupon for the Disney Club. Lunch at one of my favorite restaurant'
s-Rainforest Café. I used my $25 GC from Mypoints & the 10% off coupon for the Disney club. What a buy! Tip: split the portions here. They are SO
big! Of course I didn't think of this until after the food came. We all said gosh this is too much! After lunch we continued to search for a name
badge for my daughter's friend. My dad asked around and he was told that you the Tower shop (the store without walls and doors) will engrave the pins
for you if they don't carry the name and they did it. I was so happy!
Next stop, our motel, which I booked on priceline for $35. We stayed at the Wynfield Inns Main Gate, a couple of miles from WDW, on W Irlo Bronson Hwy.
The room was your average low budget motel. It was clean though. I took my daughter to the pool which seemed very nice.
Saturday morning: My dad drove us to the Contemporary Resort to be dropped off. I called the Disney Club 800 # to check about my Dad leaving me off.
They gave me directions and they said I could do this without paying for parking. The resort "police" are so strict. How does someone just drop
someone off? I felt like a criminal trying to get in. It was very difficult to explain to the resort "police" that my Dad was not going to
park there. My Dad confused things by asking if I could get the tram from the hotel. He meant the monorail! They finally allowed my Dad to come thru
to drop us off. I inquired about a drop off method. I was told that the drop off is at Epcot only and sometimes you have to pay for parking and get
a refund at the Exxon station. The CM that told me there is no other way. BULL! A drop off area should include NO possible way of getting into the
parking areas, period!
My daughter and I went to MK from open until 445pm. It was the day before Easter and it was extremely crowded and very hot. By 445pm I felt
dehydrated even though I drank lots of water. My daughter & I then walked to the Contemporary to meet my parent's for dinner at Chef Mickey's. We
loved Chef Mickey's. The food was very good and the characters were great. Goofy drew a picture of himself along with his autograph. After dinner my
daughter had a character drawing done. Then my Mom said she wanted to go look at the watches in the store. I said I would go along. She knew I
would. I love watches. She started looking at these nice Disney theme watches and I was wondering why my Mom was interested in one. She decided on
one and then asked ME to try it on! I decided on a Mickey watch. It has a Mickey face held up by his hands. The watch will be my graduation present
when I graduate next month!
My parent's gave themselves a self tour of the Contemporary Resort before Chef Mickey's. They ducked into a couple of rooms on various floors. They
went to the top floor, chatted with the Chef at the California Grill and checked out the observation area. Gosh I was jealous. I didn't have time
to do this myself so it's on my list for my next visit!
My daughter's favorites for the day were: Snow White's ride and the parade. Snow White called her a princess! She also enjoyed watching the sword
ceremony.
BTW, does anyone know if Cinderella wears glass slippers? After we saw her in Fantasyland she asked about her shoes. I told her we would go to the
castle to check if she was in the lobby. After inquiring I was told that she no longer greets guests in the lobby. BOY WDW continues to take away
character meeting spots!
