Here goes...Let me tell you in advance that no amount of pixie dust could fix this trip to Disney for us.
Cast:Myself,husband,16 yr.old niece,6yr.dd,4yr.ds,19mo.dd
Day one:
MONDAY Oct. 1
After a 2 day drive from PA we arrived last night. Arrived at MK at 9:00 (we slept in) Just in time for the opening ceremony for the 100
years celebration. It lasted about 10 minutes. Very nice. I got goose bumps when the train arrived with all the characters. The crowds
weren't terrible but bigger than we've experienced.(We always go off season) We then enjoyed the Cinderella surprise show in front of the castle.
It was great the kids were thrilled when the characters all came out after the show to greet the crowd. (I don't know if this is a regular
thing or just for the opening.) Then off to the carosel and Dumbo ride before our PS at Crystal Palace. Had a great early lunch. Our
youngest loved the characters from afar...just don't touch me!!!! After lunch we made time for the Lion King puppet show. Enjoyed by
all. The baby was very ready for a nap. She fell asleep in line for Ariel's Grotto. Not a long enough nap....oh oh..the rest of the day
she was way too cranky but experience told me another nap was not in the cards. We split up..boys to ride the speedway..girls to Goofy's
Barnstormer..Mom and baby to cruise in the stroller. The stroller didn't work decided to call it a day. Our sons' eyes were red and
starting to have a discharge. Eye infection...cell phone died...husband had conference call that morning in line. Searched for
pay phone that worked. (Glad I got that passporter.Helpful for pharmacy.) Little one calmed down decided to stay for parade. Loved
it. My oldest daughter got chosen to participate! Went to Splash Mtn. DH,DD and neice rode while I strolled around to get milk.(One reason
to rent a fridge. No freezer pack to keep milk cold in diaper bag.) No line so it went quickly. We rented Swiss Family the week before we
left so the kids were very interested in the Treehouse. Almost closing time headed for exit. Despite eye infection and several
screaming melt downs this was our best day.
DAY 2:
TUESDAY Oct.2
After a very fitful nights sleep we awoke late again this morning. We didn't plan an early entry.THe baby apparently wasn't feeling well.
This was the beginning of the end. Arrived at AK around 9am once again. Baby screamed the entire trip in. I got looks like I was
torturing the kid! Started the day off on the wrong foot. She never got better. Went on Safari and she immediately went to sleep. Imagine that on
that extremely bumpy ride! Slept thru the whole thing. Woke up in worse shape..nothing would help. I decided to let the others do their
thing and make the best of it. Rafiki's Conservation center and a hike to see the gorillas. DS is slowing down. Pizzafari for
lunch...great food...our card was declined. Still can't find out why. Maybe the magnetic strip? Youngest didn't eat. Our cash is depleted
because we only brought in enough for snack and planned to use card for meals. Character meets were great say 4 characters in about 45 minutes. Off
to Festival Lion King. This was the only time all day that the baby didn't cry. Everyone loved it. THe older two kids were chosen to
participate and even though DS was in a downward spiral he danced and smiled and had a great time. We then loaded up the stroller and
treked to Kali River to ride the water ride. Baby swap was great. Mostly due to the fact we had no wait at all. Just walked on. Again
the baby cryed thru most of the wait. THe parade cheered her up. It was fabulous. It seemed to have a lot
of visitors riding in it. Great music.Off to the playground in Dinoland. THen to Tarzan Rocks. I had to leave right after the start
with the baby. The other kids didn't really enjoy it that much I'm told. This was very strange because DS is stripped to his underwear
daily playing Tarzan! Time to leave. DS looks feverish. DD is melting down all over the place. DS vomited most of the evening. Someone please I need lots of
pixie dust.......it didn't come.
Day 3:
WED. Oct.3
Let everyone sleep in. To our surprise baby woke up happy but with a blotchy rash from head to toe. Turns out to be allergic reaction to
body wash. Thank goodness. DS insists he's okay. Decide to check out and cut our losses. Call and get trasfered to 3 different
people..back to square one. Will send us a refund for remaining days. Decide to try MGM. Saw Voyage of Little Mermaid and Playhouse Disney.
DS smiled through his tummy was rolling. Had to make a trip to Pizza Planet(DS loves Toy Story) Brightened his day. Time to leave.
We spent more time on the road in the van than actually in the parks. We did have some good moments scattered in there but for us it
was the vacation from H E double toothpicks! I'm so depressed right now. THe planning was much more fun than the actual trip. Such a let
down. I was reading email after our return and actually cried when I read an All Ears. I know our kids don't know the difference after all
they were at DisneyWorld. But I know what they missed out on and I'm so sad they missed it. Our next trip won't be until they are all over
5. Oh well I guess I had better start planning!!! LOL Thanks for letting me vent!
