Since I'm one of those lucky folks who lives close to WDW and has a seasonal resident pass, I thought I'd hop over to the World for the day to have the opportunity to meet some of the folks on the list. I couldn't leave in the morning because I had to attend a Bat Mitzvah at my synagogue. Finished up there
at around 1:00, drove home to change and got on the road around 2:00. Pulled into the TTC lot at about 3:45 and hopped the monorail to Epcot. Btw, this
was my first solo trip and the first time I carried a backpack with no one to hand it off to!
Met some great kids on the monorail, from north carolina here on a senior class trip. I'm sorry Deb Chambers had to have the experience she did with the cheerleaders - it was nice to meet a group of kids who were polite and receptive to questions (and did not use a single bad word). They came from a very small school (57 in the senior class, and that's a _public_ school!) in a small farming community near the Outer Banks. I told them to be sure to check
out ice station cool. I also chatted with a couple from Indiana who asked me about my t-shirt (Disney Magic Music days). I explained it was from
1999 when my son's middle school chorus performed on the Tomorrowland stage. Turns out the woman in the couple performed last year with a woodwinds
group.
Arrived at Epcot and headed right for the IBM postcard kiosk :), then to TT. Got in the singles line and in less than ten minutes was zipping along the track. headed for the UK to check out the St. Patrick's Day happenings, Irish
lass that I am. Bought the obligatory Harp's with green food coloring (found out later i could have asked for it without - oh well, it was in the spirit
of the day). There was a storyteller called "Darby O'Gill" - remember that movie? Gave me nightmares as a child...- he was pretty funny, especially
when he finished his story and started ad-libbing with the crowd. Saw the Canada movie, then over to the Cantina for the plato combinacion - yum!
The early TON was starting just as I finished dinner, so I scouted for a spot. I found the best viewing spot _ever_! right across from the Outpost
on the lagoon side are some tables with umbrellas - I grabbed a chair and had almost a private show - every puppet that went by acknowledged me,
along with the other people seated there (maybe ten of us all told). It was fantastic! (but don't tell anybody -it'll get too crowded!) this was
already my favorite parade, now I love it even more!
Monorail back to MK, started hunting for the group for the meet. Finally I spotted the ruggedly handsome Mike Boyer (in his signature Chernabog sweatshirt) and his lovely wife Linda. Turned out it was just the three of us for the fireworks, and Mike was right about the viewing spot - absolutely great. After the show a voice asked "Are you from The Mouse For less?" It was Suzanne from Miami with her husband Gary and their two boys Spencer, 4 and Gareth, 2 (who, like my boys, share the same face, and a cute one it is, too!). I hope I've spelled all the names right. We headed to Liberty Square for
the MSEP - I had just as much fun watching those boys' faces as I did watching the parade! Then we all headed home - Mike and Linda literally, as they
were driving back to Pennsylvania that night! They are all lovely people, and I think that must be representative of most, if not all the people
on this list. I hope we meet again sometime - it was a lot of fun.
