Sue - July 2001

Arrival

We did not leave until 10.30. That would put us in Orlando for 9:30 the next morning. We have rented a house and the office does not open until 10:00 so we went to Mickey D's for breakfast. It was very crowded so we ate in the car. By now it's time to check on the house. Of course it is not ready. I did not go into the office my SIL did, he said it was very small and he would not leave our stuff here. Our first problem what do we do with the stuff that we do not want to leave in a hot car for 5 hours. Also we had two babies that needed to be refreshed. The idea they came up with was to rent a cheap hotel room. There was 7 of us paying so did not think this was a bad idea. I do not recommend to anyone the Day's inn across the street from Liberty village ,the room smelled awful and the toilet did not work well at all. We left only what we had to there and changed the babies. We went to MGM, the other family had to change there vouchers for AP'S. To answer a question that was asked before we left. The new Vouchers are plastic, but do not get excited the AP itself is still the same. The attendent at the parking lot argued with them that this was not and AP then he finally realize it was the new one and let them in without paying for parking. We are now in the park at the hottest time of the day. We do have our drinks in the softsided coolers along with our misers. But still only went to places with air condition Little Mermaid we had a fast pass for. Did the great movie ride and the muppets. Around 3:30 went back to check on the house. I was a little nervous about this because things did not seem to be going our way after all the talking I did about this house if it turned out to be a dud. I would die. LOL Well the house was ready, the plan was to go to the house get unpacked and then head for MK I alway's spend the first night in MK. The house is located two miles from the Disney entrance in Formosa Gardens right off of 192. It is a gaited property and you have to have a code to get in. It was a thrill to see that gate open. We had a one story 5 bedroom house with 3 bathrooms. This place was huge and gorgeous even had an intercom system. Nice size pool with a jaccuzi(sp) The patio and pool area was all screen in. I was thrilled that it was not a two story the thought of having a 12 & 14 month old trying to climb the stairs would have been nerve racking.Bad enough we kept losing them in the house LOL. We all decide what bedrooms we wanted the six in my family stood on one side of the house and the six of them had the other side we each had our own dinning area and the kitchen was shared. Of course we did not cook, but had a very big refrigrator which we loaded with all the cokes and tea, and water bottles we had brought from home. Some we loaded in the freezer to help keep the cooler cool. It worked perfect for the water bottles. We had everything put away and I was ready to go to MK when the other family decide they were tired and wanted to get some food and stay by the pool. My family decide to stay here to (the Traders) so we had to go and get pizza and stay by this gorgeous house. Which would have been great if I was not in Disney World. If we ever go with another family ever again the ground rules will be set before we leave home. We go our way you go yours we can meet up every now and then for a meal. Don't get me wrong these are very nice people and I really like them but we are park people we love the parks and they were more let's eat and they wanted to do a lot of big meals. It was a lovely night I just missed going to MK :(. Plans for the next day was to do Animal Kingdom because it is Sat and MK is early Entry.

Animal Kingdom

We were all up early this morning. The plan was to eat breakfast at the Rainforrest Cafe. Three years ago was the only time the other family had been to WDW and they ate here and loved it. They had Tonga Toast, which was very good but very sweet. I had ordered the regular breakfast og eggs, bacon, potatoes cost 9.00 plus coke, We had ordered the large Tonga Toast for Granddaughter so we could all share it. She did not take a bite of it. The price for the toast was also 9.00. The wait was not long to be seated and the 12 of us was seated together. But by the time you look at the menu, decide what you are going to eat then place your order and wait for it, time is ticking away. Of course after the meal we had to go shopping. The cost in time about 2 hours. We had a great day in the park. My oldest GD Bobbie who makes 6 on the trip had on sandals that added almost and inch to her height. This made her tall enough to ride the dinasour ride. She loved it. There was certain rides that her mother would not let her ride. She also rode Kali River. We saw Tarzan, tough to be a bug. The rides the Babies could not go on, the other grandmother and myself sat with them under shady trees ate ice cream and people watched. Did not get to finish the park would have to come back for Lion king, safari. This park is very hot. Plans are to go back to the house, jump in pool cool down and go to MK The park closes at 10.00 tonight. We had PS'S for Ohanna's for 8:40. At around 5 :00 we went and parked at the Poly told them we had PS's at Ohanna's was afraid we would get the 3 hour parking pass and that was not enough time. They gave us a pass good for the rest of the day. Finally I get to my favorite park. The first walk up main street is alway's heaven. I go into this little world all of my own I walk all the way to the castle in silence just taking in it's beauty. We do not have much time in this park because of the PS's but I enjoyed every moment we were here. One daughter was complaining she did not want to go to Ohanna's we did the lula once and the food was terrible. I said I was going for the games they played with the kids. Well she kept it up the whole time. Ever want to deck a kid LOL. Well we get back to the restaurant and I ask what type of games they played and was informed the games were over with for the night. So I ask everyone what they want to do go or stay. Of course the one DD wanted to go .The others said they did not care, since I was only going for the games I said I would cancel ours, but if anyone wanted to stay they could. The other family, I take wanted to stay, but did not. We wound up going to get take out from OutBacks. All I got was a salad and we ate it buy the pool. This pool is so nice it has lights in it at night. Next day is Sunday plan is Epcot in morning MGM evening eating at Primetime.

Epcot and MGM

This morning was another early morning, we were heading for epcot which is my least favorite park. I was going to go about doing this park in a different way this trip so I could see if I could get more out of it. I had all kinds of plans and they all went down the tube :( I'm more a follower than a leader. I did not get to see the living statues or the candy lady also could not find where you take those darn postcards, The kids did get the VIP passes. It was a little booth and the cost was $5.00. I checked in this area and did not see a thing that said I could email a postcard. The big question of the morning was where we would eat breakfast. They picked the land, the Garden Grill I know plenty of people like this place, but it is my least favorite. It was my second time eating here and I did not like it any better the second time around. I do not like red & green things in my eggs and their eggs are not cooked well enough for me. I guess it is just me because all the other adults liked it. The kids sided with me Yucky LOL. We only did the front part of Epcot will save the showcase for the the night of July 4th. On the way back to the house we stopped at Mickey D's because the kids and I were hungry. The kids ate burgers and I ate the fudge sundae. The kids went swimming for a little while we wanted to get to MGM early we had 8:00 PS's at Primetime. We got to the park about 5 and it was still hot so we did mostly air conditioned things until it was time to eat. We go their all happy thinking about the great time were going to have and boy was it a bust. Being a party of 12 they split us up to 4 at a table. There was three different tables and right in the middle of us was and EX CM do not know if she quit on her own or was one that received a pink slip. She was in there eating with her family and all the CM were going over and talking to them. It was not happy conversation going on their. There was only one lady doing her job and she was very good at it. Her tables were acting like airplanes and she was very sassy I was so jealouse they were having a great time and our family could not even talk to one another. The waiter my daughter had, told her his tip was not added into the bill because they had split us up and for her to think about him. This I put in a report I sent to Disney on my complaints there were also two other incidents I added to the report. We did not let this get us down we are at WDW and I will make the most of it. We had fast past for the roller coaster. I do not ride this one. It bangs my head around and gives me a very bad headache, so I'am content to sit with the kids too small to go. This makes for good quality time. When they got back from this ride it was now my time to do TOT the best ride in all the parks. The wait time read 13 minutes, but it was a walk on when we got back the first showing of Fantasmic was getting out. So we went to the bathroom and got some popcorn took cokes out of the ice chest and went to stand in line for the next show. The wait was not bad at all. When we were seated the crowd started the wave and we had a ball doing this. One time here the pre show was the people that sing without music cannot remember what you call this. They use to do this as a preshow at B&B a long time ago. Also there was another guy like a magcian who had a preshow for fantasmic. Have not seen any preshows here for quite a while .The kids love the wave so this works for me. I love this show and alway's love to be sitting by people who have never seen it before. The family we were with had never seen this and they were in awe. I think the show gets better everytime I see it. Well now it's time to go back to the house. MK tommorrow morning.
