Joe and Annette Dvorak's Quick Trip

Hello Disney Friends!

A quick trip report:

Cast: DH-Joe 33
DS-Kyle 7 3/4
Myself-Annette 33

About two weeks ago, our neighbors had mentioned to DH that they would like to find a Jeep Wagoneer. Welllll, through the internet DH found them a nice one and it just so happened to be located about one hour from our dear friend Mickey Mouse! DH had planned on having the car shipped to Illinois, but when I found out that it was located near Orlando, that plan was scraped in a hurry!

So last Thursday we left work early, and we were off to the airport for a 4:00PM flight, got into Orlando and met the seller of the jeep at the Chili's restaurant located in the airport. Filled out paperwork, talked with the seller for a bit, and then we went to the parking lot to pick up the jeep. It sure was nice having a car there ready for us! We were then off to the Animal Kingdom Lodge, where I had booked a standard view room. We got to the resort quite late because we had stopped at Downtown Disney first to eat at Planet Hollywood. CM Scott was absolutely wonderful, when I asked to be upgraded to a savannah view, he didn't even bat an eyelash and replied, "Why isn't that something, we *just* ran out of standard view rooms, I'll have to put you in a savannah view!" Wow...Disney Magic at it's best! We hauled our bags to our room and fell into bed.

Friday was spent at Epcot and we had one of the best days we have ever had at any park and this was all due to the CM interaction that we had. DS-Kyle has just started getting that awful and incurable disease called Pin Trading....LOL... While I went to get Fastpasses for TT, Kyle and Joe went to the pin trading station and made a trade. Then we went to Epcot Guest Services to get priority seating for Shock Wave. Which, FYI, have to be gotten at the Epcot AP Lounge. While there, Kyle traded with another CM and the CM was kind enough to give Kyle another pin for his lanyard. Kyle has a mohawk, so the CM was "teasing" him about his "funny" haircut! We then made our way to Innovations East, Kyle made a few trades with several CM's who took the time to talk to him and look at his pins. Next was the Land Pavilion to get a drink and show Joe the AP Lounge. Not many people in there. We then rode the Figment ride and decided to buy one of the crystal blocks with our image and the Epcot "ball" in it. Definitely not dollarless, but it will be a souvenir we'll have for a long time. When exiting the building Kyle found another CM wearing lanyard, they traded, talked about Test Track and then the CM offered us 3 "go to the head of the line" passes for Test Track! We were surprised and thrilled. More Disney Magic!

Rode TT, more pin trading and then to our PS at Alfredo's. It was our first time there and we thought both the food and service were good. We shared the calamari appetizer and I had the minestrone soup, Joe and I split the sampler dinner and Kyle had the kids chicken fingers. It was a good dinner and we would go back there again.

We left Epcot and went to the Boardwalk so I could get my beloved frosted brownies from the bakery. I wasn't disappointed! Joe got carrot cake and Kyle got a Mickey cake. We then drove to Downtown Disney because the new pin store was opening that day. Downtown Disney was very crowded and the pin store was even more crowded and hot! It's located in the brown octagon building on the Marketplace side by the kids train. The building was all "open air" and they had some big fans going, but it was still very warm inside the building. Disney is releasing a new series of pins called "Build A Pin". You start with a base pin and add smaller pins to it. The base pin I got has Cinderella's Castle on it with "Magic Kingdom" written on the bottom. The base pin then has three holes in it so you can add "add-ons" to make your own unique pin. I picked Mickey, Minnie and Pluto. If anybody wants to see a picture I can post it to the list. Just let me know! I also got a MGM build a pin with ToT and RnRC as my add ons.

After the pin store I made the mistake of going into the new Toy Store......it's huge! I spent too much money in there and bought a Disney based Sorry game, a puzzle showing the 4 parks, two "Hot Wheels" type cars for Kyle and........Cinderellas Castle Playset! Yes, it's for me and no, I'm not going to play with it. It's for decoration! (Well, that's what I'm telling everybody ;-) Joe and Kyle had gone to the Lego play area and when I came back carrying all of my treasures, Joe said I wasn't to be left alone again! Lol.......

We finally left Downtown Disney and made our way back to AKL. Fell into bed and then up early the next morning to begin our drive home.

Even for a short, unexpected time we had a wonderful time, can't wait until October!

Thanks for reading,

Annette in IL šOš
