Peterson Family - December 2002

Cast Members -
Mark (DH - 40), Cindy (me - 35), Spencer (DS - 6), Megan (DD - 4), Rachel (DD - 1), Alex (DS - 1), Elizabeth (DD - 1), Tom (Grandpa), Sandi (Grandma)

Day 1 - Fri, Nov 29
Leave for Orlando from Detroit. We drove through to Knoxville, TN. The babies were getting a little antsy so Grandma and Grandpa took the older kids out to dinner while mom and dad ate Arby's in the room with the kids. I had bought lots of little treats for the 2 older kids to give them every night of the trip. Tonight they got Pooh Bear and Mickey mouse Pez candy dispensers.

Day 2 - Sat, Nov 30
Arrived in Gainesville, FL from Knoxville, TN. The babies did okay again until about the last hour of the trip. We stopped for dinner before we checked into the hotel for the night. I could tell the babies were getting tired of being in the car again - it looks like 8 or 9 hours is about our limit. The kids got Mickey and Minnie jelly suckers tonight. Tomorrow we arrive at All Star Sports!!!

Day 3 - Sun, Dec 1
We left Gainesville after breakfast at the hotel. We forgot to unplug our little refrigerator from the van the night before so our battery was dead! Oops!!! We learned our lesson! :-) It took us about 2 hours to get to the hotel and I went to check in with the two older kids. We got rooms 7263 and 7262 in the Touchdown section of the All Star Sports. We were pretty close to the food court and right off of the football field where the kids really enjoyed playing with the Xs and Os. We were pretty happy with the resort. The rooms are definitely smaller than the moderates, but since we had 2 it worked out pretty well. We had one king size bed room where we put the kids and 3 cribs. We moved one nightstand so that a crib would fit in next to the king size bed. We also put the table and chairs next to the window so that the cribs were away from it and the babies wouldn't play with the curtains. The room also had a fridge already in it but since we brought one it wasn't a big deal. The other room was a standard with 2 double beds. The food court was nice and large.lots of seating and pretty good food. We did buy 2 souvenir mugs - one for the kids and one for dh and myself.

My parents stayed at PO-R so we met them there and then drove over to the Boardwalk for lunch and a walk. We just had pizza and calzones outside and then walked around the lake. It was a beautiful day! We decided not to go into a park today because we wouldn't get much time in and wouldn't be worth wasting a day of our ticket. We decided to go back to our room and let the babies rest while dad took the older kids swimming. The babies were a little sick and we felt like they needed their rest. We had dinner at the food court and then turned in to get ready for our day at the Magic Kingdom!

Day 4 - Mon, Dec 2
We ate breakfast in our room and then headed out to the MK. We arrived just in time to see the opening. I had never seen it before and the kids really enjoyed it. It was a nice way to start our visit! We met my parents and then headed off into Adventureland. We had a great time and walked onto everthing. We did Aladdin's ride, Jungle Cruse, PofC and then headed into Frontierland. We took my 6 and 4 yo kids on Splash Mountain. Neither one of them really liked it and my 4yo says she will never go on it again. Then we took my 6 yo on Thunder Mountain and he loved it! This was his favorite ride of all. We then went to the Haunted Mansion where my 4 yo dd got totally freaked out!!! She did not like it and was pretty much crying hysterically by the time we left. Okay so we won't take her on that one again for awhile :-).

We headed into Fantasyland where all of a sudden there were TONS of people. We rode Small World and Mad Tea Party but decided not to wait for anything else. We thought that MVMCP might have shorter lines so we'd wait until tomorrow. We went to lunch at Cosmic Ray's. The food was okay but it is so annoying that you can't get a burger and chicken sandwich in the same line!!! After lunch, the kids rode Indy cars with Grandma and Grandpa while I waited with the babies. They were starting to get tired but had done pretty well up until now. Headed over to Space Mountain where Mark and I took my 6 yo. He was excited to ride it but it definitely wasn't his favorite! As we were getting off he says "I don't think I will ride that again for a very long time!" He also told me that even though he was scared he didn't scream like all those other people :->

We tried to ride Buzz but it was shut down for a while and there would be at least a 35 minute wait. My mom was getting tired so they headed back to POR and we headed for Toontown. This area was PACKED and one of the triplets was getting cranky. So we decided to take the train back to mainstreet and head back to the hotel. WRONG!! You can't take strollers on without folding them up sooooo with 2 strollers, 3 babies, 2 kids and coats and stuff, there was no way we were going to be able to get on the train. So we turned around and walked all the way back up front.

We just did the food court for dinner and went to sleep. We were all exhausted and the babies didn't even cry when we put them to bed.

Day 5 - Tues, Dec 3
We had a 10:30 PS for Cape May Café Character Breakfast. The food was wonderful - the cheese blintzes were heavenly!!! I was disappointed with the characters. Goofy was around a lot, Chip and Dale were there and we caught Minnie just as she left. Goofy was pretty funny but I even saw Dale (or maybe it was Chip) sitting at one of the booths resting. Maybe it was because we had such a late PS but I wasn't that impressed with the characters. The rest of the day we just hung out at the hotel and played. We had 5:10 PS for Ohana. There was a huge line when we got there but we were seated within 5 minutes of arriving. This was absolutely the best meal that we had at Disney. Everything was great! The triplets were not feeling that great (we had some throwing up going on the past few days) so we walked them around a lot. I wish we had been seated near the windows because we would have had a great view of the fireworks. They had empty tables by the windows but we were seated close to the bar.

After dinner we headed off to MVMCP. Got there a little before 7, went through security and then headed into Tomorrowland. We walked past about 4 lines before we found another line to have our picture taken. We only waited about 15 minutes and the pictures were in my mail when we got home! We rode Buzz and then headed into Fantasyland for the kids. My daughter loved the Dumbo ride and rode it a couple times! My ds and I headed over to Thunder Mountain to ride once and then meet up with everyone. It is a cool ride in the dark - you can see the castle from certain points. We watched the parade - or to be more correct - my family watched the parade while I walked babies in the stroller so they wouldn't scream. They really were starting to not feel well but they soon went to sleep. After the parade we headed back to the hotel.

Day 6 - Wed, Dec 4
Okay, this is the day the bottom fell out from our trip! My daughter Megan started throwing up in the middle of the night and so did one of the triplets. These 2 kids basically slept all day. My mom came to help with the babies and my dh, ds and I were going to try to go to Epcot. Not in the cards.I got sick before we got to the bus stop and had to go back. My dh and ds went to MGM and Epcot and did a few things. They came home and my dh got sick. Anyways.I ended up doing a ton of laundry (I think 4 loads) that night.

Day 7 - Thur, Dec 5
It's our last day and I am feeling better. Everyone else is feeling okay but not great. My two older kids really wanted to see Playhouse Disney at MGM so we thought we would try. We met my parents and rented another stroller for the older kids because they were not feeling very well and it was a pretty humid day - low 80s. We get to Playhouse Disney and my 4 yo absolutely refuses to go in. I just about lost it! I was so upset because I had been looking forward to this trip and it was just turning out so horrible! We decided that she was going to see Playhouse Disney and we carried her in pretty much crying the whole way. Once we got in she was fine. Even the babies started to perk up. It is a very cute show, but we were on the side and couldn't see some of the characters on the other side of the stage. But dd after all the crying decided that this was the only thing that she would see now. I think it was the fatigue talking :-) Well, my parents took ds to see the Muppet 3-D show and then we decided it was time to head back to the hotel.

We rested some more and then my parents came over to watch 2 of the babies so we could take the older kids to see the Osbourne lights and to DTD for souvenir shopping. We decided to take the bus (we had been driving mostly everywhere) and waited over 25 minutes for one. We started to be afraid that we wouldn't get in because it was getting close to 7 pm so my dh went to get the car. Of course the bus pulls up not 5 min after he left but we drove anyway. We parked and walked into MGM and got a stroller for the kids. We walked against traffic for a while and then finally got into the lights. They were really cool. I loved the glasses!!! Well, about ˝ way through the lights it starts to rain. Not light rain but pouring down rain! Well since we were only going to walk through the lights I left everything in the car - coats, ponchos, everything! My dd starts to cry and we literally run from the lights to our car. Of course we are absolutely soaking wet so we decide not to go to DTD :-> My dh and I just laughed the whole way because we just figured that nothing else could go wrong on this trip!

Day 8 - Fri, Dec 6
It is FINALLY time to go home. I never thought that I would want to leave Disney to get home but this trip proved me wrong. Since we didn't get souvenirs last night we head down to the gift shop at ASSp and picked up a couple things. My parents met us at the hotel and we got on the road home about 10 am and start heading back to MI. We hadn't driven 12 miles when we had 2 kids throw up in the car. We stopped to get cleaned up and then my husband starts driving about 85 - we are going to get home as fast as we can :-> My parents were driving separately and we didn't see them the rest of the trip. By 3 pm the babies were starting to lose it in the car so we just decided to stop. We were just north of Macon (we didn't get very far). We got a hotel and after much discussion we decided that we were going to get a few hours sleep and then head out about 1 or 2 in the am. We didn't think we could take another night in a hotel with sick kids. We packed up the kids and were out of the hotel at 1:30 am. We got back to MI about 3:30 pm. YEAH!!! I was never so glad to be home in my entire life.

Well to end this sad story. My husband and I are already planning our next trip. We are thinking about next December and we will NOT be taking our triplets. I think that Grandma and Grandpa can stay home and watch them next time and we'll take them back when they are older (maybe 20).
