DH, DS (age 14) and myself just returned from Florida. We
were in DW from 2/4 to 2/7. This will be a brief overview of our
trip, with most of the report about the campground and our
Wilderness Home.
We highly recommend a Wilderness Home in the Campground!
They are wonderful! Our cabin was #2640 in the 2600 loop called
Moccasin Trail. We had a few minor problems at first,
but all were corrected by the Mousekeepers. 2 burned out light
bulbs, 1 10cup coffee pot with a broken basket which dripped
coffee everywhere but into the carafe. I left a note to the
mousekeepers, and the lightbulbs were replaced. A new coffee
pot was left on the counter along with an instruction manual.
My son also found a new pair of childs Nike tennis shoes under
the double bed, we left them for the mousekeeper along with
another note. We left a $3.00 tip each day in our Mousekeeper
envelope.
We arranged for a wake up call every morning. Each morning
it was Mickey! I made the calls for 6:35 and also 6:20.
I cannot recommend strongly enough that if you are staying in
a cabin-rent a golf cart!!!! For about $48.00 a day, it is well
worth the extra cost. We did not get on a bus once. To get to the
Animal Kingdom, we drove our own car. For the Magic
Kingdom we took our golf cart down to the boat dock, and took
the ferry. Hint-get to the ferry early. The plug-in electrical
outlets for the golf carts get taken very early in the morning. We
were the first boat out at 7:30AM and we were not the first cart
there. Anywhere you would leave a golf cart in the campground, there
are electrical plug ins, including in the front
of your wilderness home.
Here is a great cost savings hint: The Trials End
Buffet/Restaurant has a carry out menu. One night we had
pizza, and the second night we had a complete fried chicken
dinner. With a golf cart, we buzzed down there to order the food each
night. Walked around for 10 minutes, and then took
the food back to our cabin.
We did have our own breakfasts every morning. The Gooding
Supermarket is very close to Downtown Disney and easy to find. We
stopped there on our way into the campground. I also
cooked one PM meal in the cabin. The oven, microwave, and stove top
was wonderful!
Resist purchasing any groceries in the campground stores. The
prices are high.
The 2 swimming pools are wonderful. Heated to about 80 degrees and
open 24 hours. There is a lifeguard at the Meadows
pool, but none at the pool on Peacock Pass.
