Doerle Family - November 2004

Cast of Characters: Me (Lisa 42), Mom (DM 62), DD14, DS15/16, Twin nieces Alice and Erin (DN9)

Day 1: November 6, 2004

The alarm went off as usual at 5:30. But unlike other days, I didn't hit the snooze button. The coffee was ready as I set the timer the night before. Poured a cup and started the morning. Went upstairs to hear DS saying Morning Mom. Didn't have to wake him up. Walked down the hall to DD room and said good morning. Her reply from under the covers was Turn OFF the Hall Light. She's not a morning person even with the prospect of leaving for WDW. Soon everyone is up and ready, waiting for BIL to pick us up. The plan is for him to pick the three of us up. My sister is taking the twins and picking up mom and her friend Mary Lue then we'll all meet at the airport. Mary Lue is flying down with us to meet her son, DIL and granddaughter. They're staying at BW with their DVC and they've been there since the 1st. So, she's flying down with us and home with them on Friday. We'll spend a day with her on Wednesday.

Okay, so we're at the airport and my sister is right there waiting for us. Curbside check-in with US Airways goes smoothly. Sister and BIL say goodbye to their girls and we're off. The flight was on time and uneventful. We were lucky enough to get direct flights from Syracuse to Orlando both ways. We arrive in Orlando, grab the luggage and the rental van from L&M, no problems…except for the luggage. Since we had Mary Lue with us there were 7 suitcases, 7 carry-ons and 7 people in your average mini-van. After much maneuvering, the door ajar light goes out and we're off. Drove to BW to drop off Mary Lue and her family was waiting for her. We had called ahead to tell them we were on out way. Hello and good-byes all around and once again we were off, this time to All Star Sports. We were in the check-in line by 1:00. Only one family ahead of us so the wait is only about 5 minutes. Our CM's name was Safiya and she was very pleasant. The kids browsed the gift shop while mom and I took care of business. Our rooms weren't ready so we were given a card with a number to call for our room numbers. By this time we were all starving so off to the food court. Mom and I helped the kids get their meals, filled their mugs and settled them at a table, and then we went and got our lunch.

Afterwards we toured the grounds for a bit and at 2:30 I decided to give a call about the rooms. I went in and used the house phone and got a CM named Ivy. Sure enough our rooms were ready, 4360 and 4361 in Center Court. We didn't get Touchdown as requested but this was okay. Then Ivy said "you're from Syracuse, so am I". She's here for the college program. We chatted for a minute and off I went to gather the family back into the van to find our rooms and unload the luggage. We quickly unpacked and changed into our swimsuits to go to the pool. Around 4:30 we returned to the room to change and get ready for our evening at MK.

When we arrived at MK the girls were awestruck at the sight of Main Street and the Castle. We made our way up Main Street and there was a show going on. We watched the end of it and headed over to Liberty Square. First thing we did was Haunted Mansion, which I love. Alice didn't care for it but she survived. Then we headed to Fantasy Land and got FP for Peter Pan. Decided we were hungry so we went to Pinocchio's for burgers and fries. After dinner we saw Mickey's Philharmagic. Maggie is not a fan of 3D so she decided to sit it out and look through the gift shop. The show was fabulous. At this point Chris wasn't feeling very well so he decided he wanted to head back to the room. I gave him a key and off he went to the buses. With time to kill before our Peter Pan FP we did Snow White and Philharmagic again, this time with Maggie. She really enjoyed it, too. Now it was time for Peter Pan so the 5 of us went right on. Great as usual. The line for Dumbo was very short so we all did that with only about a 10 minute wait. Then we headed towards Tomorrowland and the girls wanted to do Astro Orbiter. Maggie got in line with the twins for that while mom and I did Carousel of Progress. I was thrilled when I found out that it was open while we were here. Afterwards, we waited only a few minutes for the girls to get done. By now it was 10:30 and we decided to hightail it before the parade. There was an enormous line for the monorail so we decided to take the ferry to TTC. That was crowded too but once we got moving we were on a boat around 11:15. Back in the room at 11:45 to find Chris snoozing but woke up once we came in.

We had placed a wake-up call for 6:30 with the intention of going to EMH at MK prior to our 10:20 PS with Cinderella. Given the lateness of our return, we promptly cancelled it so we could sleep in a little. Lights out at 12:30 a.m.
