We had a 7am flight out of Birmingham AL. Scott got held up at security because his carry on kept setting off the alarms. After 4 times of running it through the machine, they finally decided it was
his razor blades. The flight was with Delta, but we actually wound up on a plane run by one of Delta's associates. I can't remember the name of it, but it was like Chaquita. Anyway, the flight was
great but we were totally lost at the Orlando Airport. Some very nice man who was on the flight with us apparently realized how lost we looked and took pity on us. He lead us around by the hand all
the way through the airport until he had to go a different way and even then he told us exactly what to do. He said he lived there in
Orlando and was always flying on business. Like I said, a very nice man to recognize tourist and help them in that way.
We went to get our luggage and Scott was teasing Kaleb about his luggage not showing up and him having to go naked the whole trip and what happened, but Kaleb's luggage did not show up. We went to the
lost luggage counter at Delta and they were very nice. We found the shuttle to Hertz and got the rental car. The lines at Hertz were long and for supposedly having paid for the car through the travel
agency, AAA, it still cost me $94.00. I was not too happy about that.
Got the Pop Century with no trouble. All the road were well marked. The hotel was great. We were in room 1220 in the 50's section.
Check in was a breeze. All the staff was very nice. Housekeeping was a dream. We called for towels several times and they were there within minutes.
We got the refillable mugs. It was definitely the way to go for us. With two little ones who wind up wasting lots of drink, it was
the cheapest thing we could do. The food at the food court was great, but after 6 days of it, we were just sick of it and ready for some real food.
The pool bar is fantastic. Does anybody have the recipe for the Lava Lamp or know how I can e-mail Disney to get it. I forget to ask before I left. The laundry is nice, but it is $2.00 for the
washer and $2.00 for the dryer and the clothes are not going to get dry in one cycle.
The first day we went to Epcot. It was very, very hot. Other than that, everything was fine. Second day we went to MGM Studios and then back to Epcot, third day to Animal Kingdom, 4th day to Sea
World and 5th day to Magic Kingdom. The parks were not crowded at all. Most of the time you could walk right onto a ride. For the few times that we got a fast pass, on a lot of those, we were able
to get on faster in the stand by lines. The only ride we could not get on and all the fast passes were gone was Test Track. We did wait for the fast pass on Mission Space. At Magic Kingdom, the only
ride we waited on the fast pass for was the Pooh ride. We did skip some rides, but we walked right onto Buzz Lightyear, twice, People Mover, Indy Cars, Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Caribian, (sp?), and on Splash Mountain we got through on the stand by line before our fast pass even came up.
We had a great time and we could not ask for better service than we got from Disney. We used the buses when we went to the Hoop Dee Do and Magic Kingdom. Other than that we used the rental car, but it was not really necessary. Disney transportation was just fine.
We went by Reedy Creek fire dept on our last day and they gave the kids hats and took us on a tour of the fire station. They were really nice.
All in all, it was a great trip and hopefully we will be looking at going back in about 7 years when the kids are a litte older so we can send them out on their own and the grown ups can have some slow time.
