Cast: Best Friend Chris (29) and myself (30)
Background: With as many times as both of us has been to WDW I had only been to AK once and Chris had never been. The weather was in the high 60's so we
thought we would check it out. We are both AP holders now, Chris' was his birthday present. We decided to take a day trip to Disney before school got
into full swing. Chris has just returned to school to get his AS degree and I am finishing up my masters
We left Clearwater at 7:15 in the morning and the fog was like pea soup. We arrived at AK at 9:15 and made it through bag check and activating Chris' AP in
about 10 minutes. We decided to head to Asia first and as we were heading there ITTBAB was letting in so we went in to see it. Then we made our way to KRR and
it was a walk on, they were letting people stay on if they liked. From there we went through the Maharajah Jungle Trek. After the trek we decided to head to
KS and decided to grab fast passes as they were for 15 minutes later and the wait was around 20 minutes. While waiting we headed to Rafiki's Planet Watch,
here Chris had his picture taken with Rafiki (his favorite Disney movie is the Lion King). We wondered around RPW for a little while and then headed back for
KS. It was with in the time frame to use our fast passes and all of the animals were out since the weather was nice and the fog had finally lifted. It was now
noon and we decided it was time for lunch.
We had lunch at Tusker House (based on suggestions from you all). It was not very crowded yet and we enjoyed our lunch immensely. After lunch we decided to
go see the 1 pm showing of Festival of the Lion King. We loved the show, how could I have missed this the first time I was there. (It was because it was the
middle of summer and to hot even for a Floridian) After the FOTLK we decided that it was time to head to Dino Land where we got Chris a Fast pass for
Primeval whirl (for 20 minutes later) and then we decided to go on Dinosaur which was a walk on and the pre-show was just beginning as we got inside. When
we got off of Dinosaur it was just about time for Chris' fast pass for Primeval whirl, he played on of the carnival games against a family of three (parents and
small child) and won a stuffed frog as he headed back to where I was watching I asked him if he really need the frog and he said no that he just likes playing
and winning so I convinced him to give it to the young child that he played against this brought a smile to the child, the family, and
me. Chris then went on Primeval whirl and while he was riding I scoped out the merchandise carts in the area and found the cutes youth hat that I have ever
seen it is red and white polka dot with ears and a red bow. It was a Minnie Mouse hat and it fit me so I had to buy it (and wear it the rest of the day).
When Chris got off of PW we decided that we had done everything that we really had to do in AK and it was only 2:30 (before I get complaints we did not stay
for Tarzan Rock because it was an hour away) and decided to move the car to Epcot and then head to MK. We decided to head to Adventureland and got fast
passes for jungle cruise (return time was 30 minutes later and stand by was 25 minutes) and went to ride POTC where we actually had a 20 minute wait (the
longest of the day other than waiting to see FOTLK) after pirates we went on the jungle cruise and decided to start to head to EPCOT but
decided that it was time to figure out dinner, we hopped on the resort monorail and headed to the contemporary and went to see if we could get seated at Chef
Mickey's (Chris had never been to a character meal before) they told us it could be up to an hour so we decided to wait and look in the gift shops we had
just finished looking around and the pager went off (it had only been a half an hour) and enjoyed our meal. Chris got his picture taken with all of the
character there that evening (Mickey, Minnie, Chip, Dale, Goofy, and Donald). After dinner we headed to EPCOT where he wanted to go on Mission:Space. I
waited while he rode and then we went on Spaceship Earth. It was now 8:30 and decided that it was time to head home. A great time was had by both of us and I
can not wait to go back (which will be soon I am sure).
