At 08:34, I awoke with a start. It sounded like Captain Henry was standing directly over me shouting
at me. I got up and poked my head out the door. No one was around, so the kids and I got dressed, found
the family and went to Parrot Cay for breakfast. Come to find out, we actually got within docking range,
made several attempts, but pulled away as it was too dangerous. So now everyone was confused about spa
appointments, etc., etc. Everett had his alpha capsule at 8am, which was supposed to be Castaway Cay
day, but now, at 9am, it had become the day at sea and all reservations, etc., were switched.
After breakfast, we went our separate ways. We had heard there was a Culinary Demonstration at Studio
Sea, so Ev, Mom & I went there. The Chef from Parrot Cay showed up how to prepare scallops (yuck) and the
Master Wine Steward did a brief demonstration on wine tasting. While we were there, they distributed
revised Day at Sea Navigators.
I had told Rachel I would meet them for swimming when we were done, so I quickly went to get changed and met
her at the Goofy Pool. WOW – that pool was WAY too crowded. It felt so weird being “down” in the pool.
To keep the water from spilling out, the walls go up high and it just felt funny. So, we got out and sat
in the whirlpool for about an hour or so. I say whirlpool because the water wasn’t very hot. There
was me and about 6 kids in this one. Then, this woman decided to join us. With me and 6 kids it was full,
but she decided to try it anyway. There are no hand rails to hold onto when getting in and I could tell
she was having a difficult time trying to step it. Well, she fell on two or three of the kids, which they
thought were just hilarious! It was pretty funny, but come on – there was NO room to begin with.
After swimming, , I went up to Bleach Blanket Buffet to grab some lunch. Nothing exciting. Met up with
dad at 13:30 at Wavebands for “Behind the Scenes”. They were going to show a video of the making of the
Magic and Wonder, then have Q & A session with a couple of Deck and Engineering Officers. It was
another one of those things that just dad and I are interested in. This was a “guys” thing. Lots of men
there asking questions about how much fuel, top speeds, that kind of thing.
We got done somewhere between 14:00 and 14:30. I decided I’d better head back to the room for a nap. I
was planning on staying up for the 70’s Disco Night tonight, so I was hoping a nap would help. HA HA HA
I set the wake-up call for sometime before dinner - Mickey again. I quickly got ready for dinner and
waited for the kids to get back and get ready. Tonight is Animator’s Palate and it would be the first
time we will all be together for dinner.
Since lunch on the first day, we hadn’t all been together for a meal and tonight was supposed to be the
night but Chad didn't show up for dinner. We still had a great time and Animator’s Palate was wonderful!
This evening, for my appetizer I got the Caesar Salad, which was good, but had a bit of a “bite” to it. No,
no one had taken a bite out of it, but it just had a tiny kick I wasn’t expecting. No biggie. For my
entrée, I had Roasted Chicken Breast with Smashed Potatoes, Vegetables and Cabernet Sauce. Yum. For
Dessert, I had a Mickey Ice Cream Bar.
One thing I should mention before I go on is that after you order your drinks with the Assistant Server,
you order ALL your food with your Server - including dessert - at the beginning of your meal. You go right
down the list and tell them everything you want. Well, when it got to Josh’s turn to order, for an
appetizer, he ordered a Strawberry Shortcake, for his main meal, he had grilled sirloin, and for dessert, he
had a Mickey Ice Cream Bar. It was hilarious!! The kid who didn’t know he could get food anywhere on the
ship - “for free” - the first night was now ordering desserts for appetizers.
Today, our Head Server, Eric – from France - actually spent a bit more time with us tonight. He noticed
Joshua’s sunburn and said that he had a remedy that his grandmother used - plain yogurt. He said if you
rub it in and add a thin layer before bed, when you get up it takes care of everything – headaches, that
“hot” feeling, everything. No one wanted to try it, but I thought it was nice. The one thing that irked
me was that I didn’t expect much interaction from him. I knew that, but when he did stop to talk with us, he
was interrupted by a Cast Member. That was fine, but he never came back to finish our part of the
conversation. I know, I know – he’s busy and he has work he’s responsible for, but to me that was a bit
rude.
After dinner, we all went to the show, except Josh. We saw the Captain on our way to the show tonight,
standing in the hallway chatting with some of his Officers. Nate, told me that Captain Henry had a
hearing problem. I asked him what made him think that. He said it was because he talked funny and
people who can't hear talk like that. I laughed and explained that he didn't talk funny, he just had an
accent because he was from another country and English probably wasn't the language he grew up speaking.
"Oh"
Golden Mickey's was great! Won’t spoil it but that’s one I will go see again. One thing I will mention it
that I noticed that Roy E. Disney was "in" the show and Michael Eisner wasn't. Gee, does that tell you
something about who people want to see in a Disney production???
Anyway, when the show got out, Mom, Dad & I found Josh wondering around and he and I tried to play ping pong.
We couldn’t keep it on the table, so it ended up being deck ping pong with us just hitting it all
around the deck, but that got boring. We walked around for a while and then went back to my parent’s
room. We ordered cookies, milk & coffee from room service and just chilled out in their room for a
while. By time we got done, we went to the room and there was a note on the door that Rachel was in her
parent’s room. For some reason, she didn’t want to be alone in the room tonight. By the time we got
everything settled, I had forgotten that it was 70’s Disco night. Grrrrrats!! Oh well, something new for
the next cruise then! We watched the end of another movie or something and hit the hay at Midnight –
again.
